Building Permits Required

Zoning Enforcement Officer and Building Inspector John Florio would like to remind residents that before any construction can begin, you must contact his office at 758-8775. Permits are needed for sheds, porches, gazebos, roof shingles, fences, additions, swimming pools (inground and above), garages and houses.

Also, if you live in the Historic District, as defined by the Zoning Code, and you make a change visible from the public way, approval from the Planning Board is required before construction may begin. This includes changes to windows, doors, porches, as well as siding and shingles. If you are not sure if you live in the Historic District, contact the ZEO/CEO for this and any other questions you may have. The CEO/ZEO is at the Village Hall on Mondays from 9 AM to 1 PM and Wednesday evenings from 5 PM to 7 PM. No appointment is necessary.

A Message from your Village Court

The Court would like to ask two things from the Village residents. One: plese wear your seat belt. Not only is it the law, but it may very well save your life or prevent serious injury to you or someone you love. Second: don't speed. If every one of us who live in the Village were to conscientiously do no more that the posted speed limit every time we're on our streets, that would mean everyone behind us couldn't go any faster.
Thank you, Walter J. Brooks, Village Justice

Stickers are on sale at the Village Hall Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 1 PM and on Wednesday evenings from 5 PM to 7 PM.You can also send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to the Village Hall with a check made out to the Village of Kinderhook and the appropriate number of stickers will be mailed to you.
