No league or community organization can be run by only a few people.
The board expects and must insist that each parent help!!!!
It is the responsibility of each team playing at the Kinderhook 1 field to provide two parents to work in the concession stand for each game played there. This averages out to about two evenings per season per family. If you are scheduled to work in the concession stand and you are not able to work, you are responsible to find someone to work for you.
Each team in the Minor, Major, Junior and Senior League will be assigned a field to prepare for the season. Field preparation is easy! Everyone can do it! There are jobs for everyone of every ability. We have needs for painting, carpentry, fixing fences, planting grass, lining the field, filling holes, raking, picking up branches, twigs and stones. Many hands make light work and are needed. Your team manager will contact you.
Field Clean Up Dates
Weekend of April 25 - 26, 1998
Each team that uses a field is responsible for daily raking, filling in holes and picking up of litter before and after each game. Poorly maintained fields can be unsafe and make the game less fun for your youngster. It's hard enough for a child to pick up a ground ball without it taking a bad hop. You may be the one who can get to the game early, or stay after the game to help out and make the game safer and more enjoyable for the children.
Photographs will be taken for all leagues on Saturday, May 2, 1998. In the event of rain photographs will be taken on May 9th. Team and individual pictures will be taken. Team managers will advise you of the time and location for your team's photograph
Last year, the Northern Columbia Little League published a Baseball Directory. The directory contained each team's schedule, roster, rules/regulations and other information regarding the Northern Columbia Little League. The directory also included a separate section for family sponsors.
This year, each family, with one or more children registered at any level of play, is required to obtain at least two family sponsors at $10.00 per sponsor. Each family's name will appear in the directory as a sponsor. A family is only required to obtain two sponsors, but the obtaining of additional sponsors is encouraged. Prizes will be awarded to the three children who obtain the most sponsors. Family sponsor money must be turned in at your child's first baseball practice in April.
If you do not want your child to participate in this fund raising program, we will be glad to accept a $15.00 donation.
Managers and coaches are needed for 6, 7, and 8 Year Old Leagues as well as Minor and Junior League teams. You don't have to be an athlete or former player to fill these positions. You need a basic understanding of baseball or a desire to learn, and the willingness to let children enjoy the game and at the same time give them guidance to attain skills. If you are interested, please contact the appropriate league coordinator listed on the first page.
Umpires are needed for Minor League games. If you have some knowledge of baseball, and would like to help, please contact our Minor League Coordinator listed above.
Umpires are also needed in the Major, Junior and Senior League. If you have had any training as an umpire, or have had experience as a player, you may be interested in these positions. Payment may be available for umpiring at these levels. Please contact the Major League and/or Senior League coordinator listed above.
