Registration for the 1998 season of the Northern Columbia Little League (NCLL) will be held on Saturday, February 7th and Saturday, March 7th at the Ichabod Crane Middle School, on Route 9 in Valatie, from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. Registrations for all leagues from the 6-year old League to Senior League will be accepted. Registration is $20.00 for one player and $30.00 for two or more family members. To register, a player must be at least 6 years old by July 31st and not older than 15 as of August 1st, and the player must reside within the NCLL boundaries which includes all of the Ichabod Crane Central School District. A first time registrant must bring a birth certificate or some other proof of age document. |
The NCLL has four levels of play, for children in kindergarten through fifth grade, based on age and ability. The major goals at all levels are to develop good sportsmanship habits, to have fun and to learn the rules and techniques of baseball.
The 6 Year Old League is an instructional level for those boys and girls at least 6 years of age by July 31st. The 7 Year Old League is an instructional level for those boys and girls at least 7 years of age by July 31st. Children who are 8 years old by July 31st play in our 8 Year Old League.
A child can progress into the Minor League if they participated in the 7 Year Old League or the 8 Year Old League last year. Minor League is an advanced program for those boys and girls who participated in the 7 Year Old League or the 8 Year Old League last year and for those continuing at the Minor League level. To avoid injury, there will be an evaluation of each child's ability before they are permitted to advance to the Minor League.
Registrations will be accepted by mail for players who participated in the Minor League, Major League, Junior League, or Senior League program last year. Registration fees should be mailed before March 7th to the:
Little League players and their families are required to participate in the League's fund-raising activities. The 6 Year Old League through Major League players are each expected to obtain at least two family sponsors at $10.00 each. The names of the family sponsors will be displayed in our NCLL Baseball Directory.
Junior and Senior League players are expected to sell one book of raffle tickets. If a family does not choose to participate in the League's fund-raising activities, they may make a donation of at least $15.00 to the League in lieu of participating in the fund raiser. Parents are also expected to work at least one game at the concession stand.
In order for our season to be successful, we also need the help of parents to coach and manage teams, serve on the Board of Directors, maintain the fields utilized for practices and games, and to umpire games. Please volunteer to fill these positions when you register your child.
