In our quest for excellence, the Ichabod Crane Central School District is dedicated to preparing all students to meet the challenges of our future and to appreciate the value of their own lives by nurturing each individual's unique talents, instilling a desire for lifelong learning, and fostering a strong spirit of community.
The Ichabod Crane Central School District was formed in 1954, incorporating seven community schools into one centralized District. Currently, there are five buildings housing the following:
a High School with Grades 9 - 12
a Middle School with Grades 5 - 8
two elementary schools with Grades 3 - 5
a Primary School with Grades K - 2
The total District enrollment is approximately 2,480 students with grade totals ranging from 160 to 210 students. The District has a professional staff of 180 and support staff of 140.
The community supports many child-centered programs:
full-day Kindergarten
multi-age classrooms at the elementary level
a team teaching approach at the Middle School
the education of special needs students in the Least Restrictive Environment
the infusion of technology into the instructional program.
Through a varied school program at the secondary level, students are provided with many opportunities to foster their potential. Programs are offered in foreign languages, advanced placement and/or college level courses in Science and Math, Social Studies and English. Art, Music, Industrial Technology, and Physical Education are incorporated into students' programs of study. Additionally, students in Grades K - 12 have been recognized for their participation in the Odyssey of the Mind, art exhibitions, theater, and musical productions, and many athletic competitions.
The District is keenly aware of its responsibility to its students -- graduates of the District must be prepared to handle the challenges facing them. To this end, the District and its citizenry continually strive to provide students with an education that reaches beyond the walls of Ichabod Crane and the boundaries of its community.
