MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of this group shall be to:

  1. Disseminate the message of what Family Practice really is.
  2. Serve as role models for Family Physicians and other primary care medicine providers.
  3. Encourage interested people to pursue careers in Family Practice and primary care medicine.
  4. Represent the interests of Family Physicians and their patients before the decision making bodies at every level of government.
  5. Work on reform of the health care system to improve access, affordability, and efficiency through primary care.
  6. Serve as a clearinghouse for health-related information to the public, both directly and through the media.
  7. Promote health maintenance through preventive care and health promotion, both in the office setting and in public.
  8. Foster communication among the Family Physicians in the county.
  9. Serve as the liaison between Family Physicians in the county and state and national medical organizations.
  10. Collaborate with hospitals and medical schools to bring resources to the county for the education of students, residents, and physicians in Family Practice. pg2/94

PRESS RELEASE

HUDSON, NY (03/01/1994) - The New York State Academy of Family Physicians is proud to announce the reactivation of the Columbia County Chapter. It was originally founded during the 1960's by a group of six local physicians. Notable among the early members were Dr. Eugene Rogati, Dr. Henry Salm, and Dr. Henry Noerling. The new group is dedicated to improving the status of primary care medicine in general and Family Practice in particular. They hope to provide encouragement to people interested in pursuing careers in Family Medicine, promote preventive health care to the public, and provide a resource for health-related information. The officers currently are President - Dr. Philip Gilly, Vice President - Dr. Neal Baillargeon, Secretary - Dr. Robert Davenport, Treasurer - Dr. Charles Kucera.
